Mine Victim Assistance of Zimbabwe (MVAZ)

(Integrated approach to Mine and ERW Victim Assistance)

Mine Victim Assistance of Zimbabwe (herein referred to as MVAZ) is a registered Private Voluntary Organization, PVO number 42/2019 in terms of subsection (5) of Section 9 of the Private Voluntary Organization Act (Chapter 17:05).  MVAZ has been accredited by the Zimbabwe Mine Actions Centre (ZIMAC) whose role is crucial in overseeing mine action efforts in Zimbabwe. The organization was formed with the aim to provide support and assistance to individuals and communities affected by landmines and other explosive remnants of war. The organization will work to provide physical rehabilitation, psychological support, and socioeconomic reintegration services to landmine survivors and their families. Additionally, the organization will engage in advocacy efforts to raise awareness of the impact of landmines and to promote the need for greater resources and attention to landmine victim assistance. The ultimate goal of MVAZ is to alleviate the suffering of those affected by landmines and to promote a country free from the threat of landmines and other Explosive Remnants of War (ERW).
